China Galaxy International Financial Holdings Limited (“CGI”) was established in Hong Kong with a registered capital of HKD100 million.
2017
CGI and CIMB Group Sdn. Bhd. (“CIMB”) signed a Share Purchase Agreement; CGS injected capital of USD289 million into CGI for the acquisition of 50% equity of CGS-CIMB*.
2018
CGI acquired 50% equity of CGS-CIMB Securities International Pte. Ltd. (“SG JVCo”) and fully entered the Southeast Asia market.
2019
CGI acquired 50% equity of CGS-CIMB Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (“MY JVCo”).
2021
CGS injected capital of HKD1.739 billion into CGI as a special acquisition fund for the exercise of First Option;CGI increased its shareholding in SG JVCo to 74.99% and MY JVCo to 75%, further strengthening its overseas layout.
2022
CGI received a capital injection of HKD2 billion from CGS, with a registered capital of HKD7 billion in total.
Pluralistic Progress
As a state-owned securities company with an extensive presence along the “Belt and Road”, China Galaxy Securities (“CGS” or the “Company”) provides trading, financing, M&A, investment and wealth management services to domestic and overseas clients of all types through its unique business network in the ASEAN region. Along with the opening up of China, overseas investors have been increasing their asset allocation to the Mainland market, while there is also a growing demand for diversified allocation of wealth among domestic investors. The Company will continue to help domestic and overseas clients to gain a deeper understanding of the onshore and offshore markets and to expand cross-border trading, investment and risk management tools by leveraging investment schemes and stock connect channels such as QFII, RQFII, QDII, Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect, Shanghai-London Stock Connect, Bond Connect and Mutual Recognition of Funds. While focusing on the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Free-trade zones, CGS International Holdings will continue to create synergies with the Company as a whole to deepen our roots in Asia and expand our global footprint, therefore allowing China’s capital and assets to further integrate into the global markets and vice versa and striving to become the “Asia’s Financial Gateway”.
